WP Video Robot version 1.9.17 has just been released! This update is a culmination of 2 months of extensive development and a total revamp of the plugin and its add-ons structures. After around a month of beta testing, we’re really happy to bring this version to you. Let’s take a look at all the awesome new features we’ve added.
Support of different Post Types
Supporting multiple post types was the most frequently requested improvement for a long time. We’ve finally implemented it on this version. Now, you can pick the Post Type you want the plugin to use to store your imported videos. Moreover, you can even create two sources that post videos into two different post types. This is very useful if you want to keep your imported videos separate from your regular content.
Video Info Popovers
We’ve introduced a new info tool-tip that shows up when you hover a video on any WPVR videos screen. It can be on a Testing Source screen, or on the Unwanted or Deferred videos screen. It gives you valuable information, such as the publishing date, the author name and link, the description, the tags, the views count, the comments count and the video ID.
Performance improvements
On each release, we work hard to to improve the stability and speed of the plugin. Many changes on the 1.9.17 release will bring better performance:
- Prevented any duplicate call from the plugin to the database.
- Revamped wpvr_get_sources for more efficiency.
- Introduced an internal WPVR cache system.
- Optimized all queries on postmeta to avoid crashing on very large video sites.
- Introduced partial and optimized videos flushing for faster video fetching.
New add-ons structure
We strongly believe that the strength of the plugin lies in its capability of being improved by many other talented developers. After all, that’s why WordPress is where he is today. On this version, we’ve laid the very first foundation of a platform open to new third-party development. We’ve also revamped most of the existing add-ons with a new logic and created an add-on boilerplate that can be a starting point for future developments.
New Theme Integrations
All our integration demos have been checked and re-checked to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Specially, the VideoPro one which got a brand new theme fix that ensures a perfect integration with all the theme features.
Bugfixes and corrections
In addition to all of those enhancements, WP Video Robot version 1.9.17 includes several corrections, as well as a number of security fixes. You may check the Changelog or on the root folder of the plugin.
We are thrilled by this new release release and hope you’ll enjoy it as well. As with all major updates, we strongly recommend that you use a staging or test server to test the updates on your site before installing it on a live site.
